4 Days Rwanda double gorilla trekking – Lake Kivu tours

Day 1: Arrival in Kigali – Transfer to Gorilla Park

Upon arrival at the international airport in Kigali, the safari traveler will be met and received by the company representative who will then drive the traveler to the preferred safari lodge or safari camp accommodation and, if time allows, give you a brief about the gorilla tour package. Enjoy dinner and overnight stay at Mountain Gorilla Nest Lodge / Gorilla view lodge / Kinigi guest house or similar

Day 2: 1st Gorilla Trekking adventure

Have a very early breakfast before your safari driver guide drives you to the gorilla park headquarters of Rwanda Parc National des Volcans where all trekkers of the day will receive a briefing from the gorilla ranger guides. After the briefing, embark on trekking the mountain gorillas in the lush rain forests at the slopes of the Virunga Mountains. Gorilla trekking can take from 1 hour to 8 hours depending on the movements of these gentle giant gorillas in the jungles and the gorilla family group one takes – choice of the gorilla family to trek can be influenced at the time of booking of the gorilla permits. When the gorillas are encountered, you are allowed a maximum of 1 hour watching the gorillas take care of the families. After this 1 hour, you start tracking back to your safari accommodation where you will relax until dinner time, or you can choose go for an optional evening nature walk or Rwandan cultural entertainment. Have the overnight stay at your safari accommodation.

Day 3: 2nd Gorilla Trekking – Lake Kivu Rwanda

After having your breakfast, leave your safari lodge / safari camp and go trek another gorilla family. The difference between this safari day and the safari day before is that the trekker gets to trek different gorilla families thereby being exposed to different levels of adventure strains. After finding and observing the Mountain Gorillas, return to your safari accommodation to have lunch then transfer to Lake Kivu located at Kibuye – a lakeshore town. Lake Kivu is a beautiful huge inland fresh water lake enclosed by the lush green but steep terraced hills characteristic of Rwanda rural regions. While at Lake Kivu, check into Kibuye Guest House or Lake Kivu Serena Hotel or similar accommodation of the traveler’s choice. The Kibuye Guest house is a chalet style hotel with its location at the edge of Lake Kivu and has a small beach front that most travelers find great for swimming into the clear waters of the lake.

Day 4: Lake Kivu – drive to Kigali

This morning, the traveler awakes to have breakfast at leisure before going to enjoy the morning boat trip on Lake Kivu. After the boat ride, one can go swimming at Lake Kivu then return to the safari lodge to have a hot lunch meal. After having lunch, your safari guide driver will transfer you to Kigali through a 2 hours drive. Upon reaching Kigali, advice your safari guide driver about your preferred drop-off point or he can drop you at the International Airport for your next flight out of Rwanda.
